Gilbertson recognized as 09-10 Honorary Coach

SEGUIN, Texas – Dr. Mark Gilbertson was recognized during Tuesday’s Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball match as the 2009-10 Texas Lutheran Athletics Honorary Coach.
Dr. Mark Gilbertson retired from Texas Lutheran University in May 2009 after 36 years of dedicated and exemplary service. He served as a professor of philosophy during his entire tenure at TLU, and in 2008-09 he also served as interim provost – the second highest ranking administrative officer in the university.
Gilbertson earned his B.A. from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. He and his wife, Pat, are the parents of two adult sons, Eric and Tor.
Even in retirement, Gilbertson continues to be a faithful fan of the Bulldogs.
Each year TLU Athletics honors a community member, faculty member, or staff person as the Honorary Coach for the year. Some of the past honorees include: Henry and Carline Lehnhoff, Luther and Dorothy Sagebiel, Kermit and Carolyn Westerholm, Dr. A.G. Wiederaenders, Carl Vann, Lana Urbanek, Pastor Greg Ronning, and Dr. Preston Reeves.
