Center for Professional Development

Texas Lutheran University has announced plans to discontinue its Center for Professional Development (CPD) at the end of December 2009.

“TLU's new Strategic Plan - developed through a 12-month process that involved faculty, alumni and community leaders -- calls TLU to renew its focus as an undergraduate academic community,” said TLU President Ann Svennungsen. “Though we recognize the significant value of vocational and technical education and are grateful for the significant work of the CPD staff, we are refocusing our efforts on TLU's core mission of preparing undergraduates for lives of purpose and service in the world."

As an active partner in the Seguin community, Svennungsen said that TLU looks forward to supporting other local organizations in their efforts to provide professional education opportunities for the Seguin community.

TLU will continue to offer the SAT Prep Course, the Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program, and the Advanced Placement Summer Institute. Other continuing education courses offered through the CPD, including most online courses, will be discontinued by the end of 2009. A dental assistant class currently underway, a pharmacy tech class that begins Oct. 12, and an EKG technician class that begins Oct. 20 will continue as scheduled this fall.
