The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs close out the 2009 football season with a 1 p.m. road game Saturday against Mississippi College. The Bulldogs and Choctaws meet at Robinson-Hale Stadium on the Mississippi College campus in Clinton, Miss.

Dennis Parker resigned Monday as head coach of the Texas Lutheran University football team.
Parker's resignation will be effective Monday, Nov. 16. He will serve as head coach in the Bulldogs' final game of the 2009 season.
TLU plays Mississippi College on Saturday in Clinton, Miss.
"We look forward to moving the football program in a new and successful direction," said Bill Miller, TLU's director of athletics. "We thank Coach Parker for his service to TLU, and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

Ben McLaughlin tossed six touchdown passes as the Louisiana College Wildcats spoiled Texas Lutheran’s Homecoming with a 42-3 victory over the Bulldogs Saturday at Seguin’s Matador Stadium.

Texas Lutheran plays host to Louisiana College for the TLU Homecoming game at 2 p.m. Saturday in Seguin’s Matador Stadium.
Saturday’s contest also is the final home game for 12 Bulldog seniors: Ben Cooper, John Jackson, Brandon McCoy, Joseph Mendoza, James Moore, Jonathon Randle, Shawn Small, Anthony Smith, Steve Thrash, Frank Vera, James Villarreal, and Eric Walker.

Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.
TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

Texas Lutheran freshman quarterback Rocky Huff tossed a career-best three touchdowns, but the performance was not enough to prevent the Bulldogs from dropping to 0-8 after a 38-22 loss to Hardin-Simmons on Saturday.

Texas Lutheran is in Abilene, Texas for a 2 p.m. kickoff today (Saturday) against Hardin-Simmons University. Texas Lutheran makes its second long road trip of the 2009 season, and again the Bulldogs take to the road in search of the year’s first victory. TLU heads to West Texas and the city of Alpine for a match-up Saturday with Sul Ross State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Sul Ross State's Jackson Field.

Texas Lutheran committed seven turnovers Saturday in a 45-23 American Southwest Conference loss to Howard Payne at Seguin’s Matador Stadium.
The seven turnovers matched the most single-game turnovers for the Bulldogs since reinstating football in 1998. TLU dropped to 0-4 overall and to 0-3 in the American Southwest Conference.

Texas Lutheran and Howard Payne are in search of their first American Southwest Conference victory of 2009. The two teams meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at Seguin’s Matador Stadium.
TLU will have

TLU is 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the ASC after a difficult 32-21 loss on the road to East Texas Baptist. HPU is 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference after a loss last week to Sul Ross State. TLU has won the last three contests against Howard Payne.

The East Texas Baptist Tigers survived a 21-point, first-quarter barrage by Texas Lutheran and defeated the visiting Bulldogs 32-21 on Saturday evening at Ornelas Stadium.

Texas Lutheran tries to stop the Marshall jinx Saturday at Ornelas Stadium when the Bulldogs play under the lights against East Texas Baptist. The game will be the first night game for the Tigers at Ornelas Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Pre-game coverage on Seguin radio station KWED 1580 AM will start at 6:30 p.m. Live video (with audio provided by KWED) will be available on the TLU Athletics website (Live Video). Live stats will be provided by East Texas Baptist, with a link to the Live Stats available on the TLU Athletics website.

The American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Holiday Inn Select-North Dallas hotel. Each of the ASC’s 15 member institutions were represented with at least one advisor and two student-athletes.
TLU women's volleyball player Jamie Jahns handled vice-chair duties at the meeting.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16. ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

Texas Lutheran senior punter Frank Vera (Laredo/Nixon) has been named the American Southwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Vera earned the ASC weekly honor after throwing for a touchdown on a fake field goal and after pinning five punts inside the 20-yard line in TLU's 22-21 loss Saturday to Trinity.

Freshman kicker Garrett Biel booted a game-winning 34-yard field goal with no time remaining on the clock to lift the Trinity Tigers to a 22-21 road victory over Texas Lutheran.

Tuesday afternoon the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs hit the George Kieffer Football Practice Field for the first time in the 2009 preseason, and Head Coach Dennis Parker liked what he saw from the Bulldogs on day one.
