Texas Lutheran Bulldog greats Richard Miller (football), Lili Torres-Ramirez (women’s tennis), Aaron Merhoff (baseball), Craig Saunders (men’s basketball) and Madeline Klasing Williams (women’s volleyball) will be inducted into the Texas Lutheran Athletics Hall of Fame during TLU Homecoming ceremonies this weekend.
TLU also will recognize its Athletics Leadership Wall of Honor Class of 2009. This year’s inductees are the Honorable Edmund Kuempel and Ken and Linda Voges.

Dr. Mark Gilbertson was recognized during Tuesday’s Texas Lutheran women’s volleyball match as the 2009-10 Texas Lutheran Athletics Honorary Coach.

At Mill Creek Golf Club, the Texas Lutheran men's golf team completed the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational with a 15th-place team finish.

The American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual meeting on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Holiday Inn Select-North Dallas hotel. Each of the ASC’s 15 member institutions were represented with at least one advisor and two student-athletes.
TLU women's volleyball player Jamie Jahns handled vice-chair duties at the meeting.

The American Southwest Conference has partnered with Clear Marketing Concepts in developing a weekly online video production that will highlight student-athletes, coaches, member institutions, games and academics. The show about the 15-member NCAA Division III-affiliated athletic conference will be called ASC All Access and produced every Wednesday throughout the academic year. ASC All Access debuted on Sept. 16. ASC All Access can be viewed by logging onto www.ASCsports.org/AllAccess or through any of the ASC’s 15 member institutions’ athletic websites.

The Texas Lutheran John Bohmann Memorial Invitational concluded Tuesday at the Golf Club of Seguin with a seventh-place showing for the Bulldogs and a playoff win for Jonathan Alden of Trinity.
The University of Texas at Brownsville claimed the tournament team title.

The University of Texas at Brownsville fired rounds of 279 and 285 Monday to take a 14-shot lead into Tuesday’s final round of the Texas Lutheran John Bohmann Memorial.
TLU is in a tie for 7th after two rounds, and Bulldog senior Andrew Long is in 10th place individually after shooting a 70 and a 73 on Monday.

Texas Lutheran University was voted by its peers as the inaugural winner of the American Southwest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year award for the 2008-09 academic season. TLU was honored on Monday (Aug. 4) during the annual ASC SID meeting in Dallas.

Forty-four Texas Lutheran students – student-athletes, student athletic trainers, and student sports information assistants – were named to the American Southwest Conference 2009 All-Academic honor rolls.

The Texas Lutheran men’s golf team finished in sixth place at the 2009 American Southwest Conference Men’s Golf Championship Tournament.
The Bulldogs were sixth entering Tuesday’s final round at Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas. TLU’s final team score was a 945.
TLU closed the tournament with its best round of the championships, a 311. The Bulldogs carded team totals of 313 and 321 in rounds one and two on Monday.

The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs fired their best round, a team score of 309, in Tuesday’s final round of the West Region Invitational, but the score only kept the Bulldogs in 12th place.

Texas Lutheran junior Andrew Long (Seguin/Seguin) captured the men's individual title at the TLU Concan Intercollegiate and led the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish.
TLU's Dither Castro of Weslaco (Weslaco) aced the par-3, 156-yard No. 7 hole at The Club at Concan during Tuesday's second round.

The Callaway Gardens Invitational golf tournament in Pine Mountain, Ga. has been canceled due to the severe weather in the region. Huntingdon College, the host of the tournament, reports that snow is still on the ground at the course. The snow and the hard rains on Friday and Saturday have made the course unplayable. The Texas Lutheran men's golf team was scheduled to play in the tournament, one of the top NCAA Division III tournaments of the year.
