FAQs
-
How can students apply to TLU?
Students may apply for admission through the TLU Application, Common Application, or ApplyTexas.
-
Is there an application fee to apply to TLU?
No, it is free to apply to TLU as long as you graduate from a high school in the United States. There is an application fee of $100 for international students.
-
Does TLU offer scholarships?
Yes! If your student gains admission and is a full-time freshman student, they will automatically receive a TLU merit-based scholarship ranging from $20,000 to $25,000 per year. Additionally, TLU offers SAT/ACT Awards, Performing Arts Awards (for majors & non-majors), and other scholarship toppers. Students who demonstrate financial need – based on a completed FAFSA – may also be eligible for a TLU grant as well as federal and state grants. For more information, please visit our scholarship page.
-
How can students check their application status?
Students can access their personalized application checklist on their Student Status Page at apply.tlu.edu/mystatus to regularly view their progress through the application and enrollment process.
-
When will students receive an admissions decision?
Once we receive the completed application and all required documents, students can expect an admissions decision within two weeks.
If a student does not receive notification within two weeks, their application may be under review by our Admissions Committee, they are missing documents (transcript or essay), or the application was never received.
Students should log-in and check their Student Status Page for an admissions decision. Students who are admitted will also receive a TLU acceptance packet in the mail.
-
Does TLU require SAT or ACT test scores?
No. TLU has always used a holistic review process when reviewing applications for admission, therefore students are not asked to submit SAT and/or ACT scores. However, scholarships are available to students who earned a score of at least 1100 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT.
-
Does TLU accept Dual Credit and AP/IB Exam scores?
Yes. Students should send official transcript(s) from every institution attended for dual credit along with any AP or IB exam scores for their credit to transfer to TLU. For more information, please visit our transfer credit page.

-
How can I request promotional items and publications?
Please email admissions@tlu.edu to request a counselor packet to be sent to your school.
