You may apply for admission through the TLU Application, Common Application, or ApplyTexas.

No, it is free to apply to TLU as long as you graduate from a high school in the United States. There is a $100 application fee for international students who require a non-immigrant visa to study in the United States.

Yes! If you gain admission as a full-time first-year student, you will automatically receive an academic scholarship ranging from $18,000 to $28,000 per year. Additional scholarships are listed below.

  • SAT/ACT Awards | $1,000 to $3,000 per year
  • Performing Arts Awards | Up to $7,500 per year for majors | Up to $3,000 per year for non-majors
  • Legacy Award | $1,000 per year
  • Lutheran Advantage | $1,000 per year
  • Lutheran Clergy Award | $1,000 per year

  • Early Action: Apply by November 15
  • Regular Decision: Apply by February 1

No. TLU has always used a holistic review process for applications; therefore, students are not required to submit SAT and/or ACT scores when applying.

However, scholarships are available for students who submit qualifying test scores.

You can access your personalized application checklist on your Student Status Page to view your progress throughout the application and enrollment process regularly. Please check the email you used to apply to receive your login credentials.

Once we receive your completed application and all required documents, you can expect an admissions decision within two weeks. You will receive an email notifying you of an update to your Student Status Page, and your admissions representative will contact you regarding your decision.

If you do not receive notification within two weeks, your application may be under review by our admissions committee, you are missing documents (transcript or essay), or the application was never received.

Yes. The $400 enrollment deposit indicates your intention to enroll at TLU and is due by May 1. The deposit is refundable only once you graduate from TLU.

All full-time students are required to live on campus unless you meet one of the following requirements:

  • Commuting from your permanent residence (parent or guardian) within a 30-mile radius of campus
  • 21 years of age or older at the beginning of the fall semester
  • Married
  • Have lived on a college campus for at least four semesters (two years)

The housing applications opens in February. Once you have submitted your enrollment deposit and proof of meningitis vaccination through your Student Health Form, you are eligible to apply for housing.

All students must complete a housing application for either on-campus housing or off-campus housing.

We believe the best way to learn is in the classroom, which is why our undergraduate programs are primarily offered in person.

However, some of our graduate programs are 100% online. For more information about these programs, please visit the Graduate Admissions page.

Yes! Please send official transcripts from every institution attended for dual credit, along with any AP or IB exam scores, for your credits to transfer to TLU.

Final official transcripts must be sent directly from the school either through an electronic third-party system (TREx, Parchment, etc.) or by mail.

Final transcripts that are sent by email or are unsealed will not be considered official.
