Typically celebrated in June, however TLU celebrates in April, while students are on campus.
Pride Month is a monthlong commemoration of the historical and cultural contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. Usually held in June to remember the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, Pride finds its roots in the struggles of these traditionally marginalized groups to gain acceptance and acknowledgment within their communities and nation. Now, Pride Month also serves as a time of celebration, where these historically silenced individuals can make themselves known and where the community can honor them as an integral aspect of society. At TLU, we remember Pride Month in April so that our students, faculty, and staff can be a part of the celebration together.

Welcome to Campus Pride Month at Texas Lutheran University! Throughout this month-long celebration, we’ll gather together as a vibrant and diverse community to honor and embrace the rich tapestry of identities within our campus. As we raise awareness and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an environment of respect, acceptance, and support for all individuals. TLU’s SAFE student organization has planned a series of programs to kick off Campus Pride Month. Follow TLUSAFE on Instagram for a complete schedule of activities and additional information. Let’s unite in solidarity to champion equality, celebrate diversity, and cultivate a campus culture where everyone feels valued and celebrated.
