Help Us Bring esports to TLU

TLU students are eager to bring esports to our campus. Join us in raising $300,000 to start an esports program for our students.

A Growing Industry

Esports is a $20 billion industry that involves playing, streaming/broadcasting, game development, viewership, event planning, and sponsorship. Across the U.S., 472 colleges and universities are actively recruiting esports athletes with an average varsity roster of 35 students. In Texas, there are more than 3,400 schools that currently offer esports to their students including some of TLU's top feeder high schools.

Recruiting New Students

As TLU seeks to grow the number of first-year and transfer students living and learning on campus, we believe an esports program adds to the excitement and vitality of living on a college campus. With over 3,400 high schools across Texas offering esports, we also know there is a growing expectation that colleges offer esports for students.

Internship and Job Opportunities for Current Students

In addition to esports student-athletes, there are numerous opportunities for students across all majors to get involved and gain valuable experience in sports broadcasting, streaming, video production, content creation, social media marketing, and event planning. These opportunities prepare students for in-demand careers that offer competitive salaries.

Regional and National Marketing Opportunities for TLU

An esports team opens the door for TLU to be advertised and promoted through marketing opportunities on Twitch, the largest esports streaming platform with more than two million viewers. The Twitch platform includes team-branded landing pages and sponsorships that can be used for marketing TLU’s academic programs and student experience in addition to an esports team.

Our Students Said "Yes!" to esports

During the spring 2023 semester, we surveyed our students to gauge their interest in esports and here is what they said:
