What is the FAFSA® Form?
Colleges and career schools use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form to determine how much financial aid you’re eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.

Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.
Filing Your FAFSA®
Use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to apply for financial aid. Be sure to include the TLU Federal School Code 003641 to have your information sent to our office for review.
How long will it take?
People typically finish their section of the FAFSA® form in 12 minutes or less.
What do I need?
- Verified account username and password (FSA ID)
- Parent or spouse contributor’s email address
- Income and asset information (if required)
Understanding FAFSA® Deadlines
- School deadlines: Deadlines vary by school, so check college websites or contact the financial aid office at the schools you are interested in to find out when you should submit your FAFSA. TLU follows the State of Texas priority deadline which is typically January 15th each year.
- State deadlines: A list of these can be found here. Texas’s priority deadline is typically January 15th.
- Federal deadline: June 30th is the last day you can apply for federal aid for the current academic year, but students must have a valid FAFSA processed prior to their last date of attendance each year.
