An Impactful Legacy: TLU Receives Donations Through the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest

Karina Garner

The Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest facilitates stewardship by helping people arrange to share their legacy dollars with ELCA ministries and other non-profit organizations of their choosing. This December, LFSW presented Texas Lutheran University with a check for $247,010—the combined donations of numerous givers who chose to support the university through their legacy giving.

“The Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest provides great impact to our university, as it works with donors who support Lutheran causes and helps them see the potential of their giving to places like TLU,” said Dr. Debbie Cottrell, university president. “We have long benefitted from their good care and stewardship, and we are grateful for it.”

This year’s donation will be channeled into student scholarships and other funds as requested by the individual donors. TLU, one of the seven original Lutheran agencies sponsoring the foundation when it was founded in Austin in 1979, extends gratitude to all the donors who’ve chosen to remember the university in their legacy planning. Their combined efforts continue to have a tremendous impact on the mission of TLU.
