Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz has a new football helmet to add to her collection. In her Washington, D.C. office, De La Cruz, who serves Texas’s 15th Congressional District, has helmets from several of the universities in her territory—and as of this week, she’s got one more.

“I thank TLU for the football helmet,” says De La Cruz. “It’s a wonderful addition to my collection and a reminder of one of the top institutions for Christ-centered learning in Texas that I am proud to represent.”

The helmet, secured by TLU Student Government Association President Joaquín Fernando Rodríguez, was sent to De La Cruz on behalf of TLU President Debbie Cottrell’s office and presented by junior Ashton Smith, who has been interning in the congresswoman’s office.

“Presenting the helmet to the congresswoman was an honor,” says Smith. “It felt as if I was representing the proud people of TX-15 and the amazing people at TLU!"
