Texas Lutheran University celebrated its 19th annual Front Row gala on March 11. This year’s event, held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in San Marcos, was special as it was the first time in history it featured a couple and a female as honorary guests.
Former MLB Pitcher Joe Smith and TNT Sports Journalist Allie LaForce shared the stage with legendary CBS-TV sportscaster, TLU alumnus, and regent emeritus Verne Lundquist. As is the Front Row tradition, Lundquist conducted a live, on-stage interview with Smith and LaForce. They talked about their relationship, respective careers in professional sports, and their journey in establishing HelpCureHD, a charity supporting families and helping eradicate Huntington's Disease.
“I’m so grateful for our longstanding and highly successful tradition of Front Row. Verne Lundquist’s talents and support of his alma mater always ensure an entertaining and impactful evening," said Dr. Debbie Cottrell, TLU president. "This year, it was great to hear the journeys and experiences of Allie LaForce and Joe Smith, and to enjoy their warmth and generosity. TLU athletics are a key part of our student experience, and Front Row is a key component of the support they receive each year.”
The proceeds from this event are donated to all 19 TLU varsity NCAA III sports. TLU would like to thank all donors, sponsors, and friends of the University for the continued support of TLU athletics.
