TLU Honored at Seguin’s Annual Moonlight and Roses Event

Every year, the local community comes together to unwind under the stars and celebrate the vibrance of downtown Seguin. The Memorial Rose Garden in Walnut Springs Park comes alive with lights, music, and good food.

Part of the fun of the evening is the recognition of various organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to downtown and to the local arts community.

At this year’s event, TLU was named Art Organization of the Year. TLU hosts dozens of art-centric events every year, from plays to exhibits to concerts of all kinds, and offers them to the community. The university also collaborates with such organizations as Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin and the Mid-Texas Symphony.

TLU President Dr. Debbie Cottrell was on hand to receive the award, which was presented by Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen on behalf of the Seguin Main Street Program and the Seguin Commission on the Arts.

Also on the list of winners was TLU Board of Regents member Heath Anders, who won the award for Downtown Volunteer of the Year. Anders has dedicated his time and energy to numerous committees and special events, including the “Imagine the Possibilities” Tour.
