Spanish Degree Program
The TLU Spanish degree program can connect with others in language schools across the world via study abroad experiences, border seminars, and our Languages Across the Curriculum program. At TLU, you won’t just study language; you will experience culture firsthand.
Why Spanish at TLU?
World Languages & Cultures students have the opportunity to deepen their education and social experience with various study abroad programs, including language and cultural immersion. There are numerous academic and social clubs on campus dedicated to increasing cultural awareness, including the Mexican-American Student Association (MASA), national foreign language honor society Alpha Mu Gamma, and numerous other honorary organizations. Students in the language school have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by interning with Teatro de Artes, working with ESL students in local schools, or participating in a citywide oral history project.

Texas Languages Collaboration
Five small independent colleges in Texas (Concordia University of Texas, Lubbock Christian University, Schreiner University, Texas Lutheran University, and Texas Wesleyan University) have partnered to increase the breadth and depth of language offerings available to their students. This partnership allows each institution to develop strength in one language and share their instructional resources with their partners for a combined extensive range of language offerings.
In the 2012-2013 academic year, these colleges began working together to offer three to five language courses with a different institution offering each course. High definition videoconferencing allows for live, virtually face-to-face interaction for students and teachers. Since live interaction will be limited, instructors will supplement instruction with other online curricular resources to provide more contact hours in the target language. The institutions will also partner with the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education (NITLE) to explore a number of important research and implementation questions across several dimensions, including academic, logistical, technological, financial and curricular.
Languages offered: French, German, Mandarin, Spanish
