Visiting Assistant Professor Position in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science at Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a visiting professorship in mathematics. We seek a passionate educator who is committed to excellence in teaching and has a strong background in applied mathematics and statistics. This is a one-year position to begin in August 2025. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics. ABD candidates will be considered if their degree will be completed by August 2025.
  • Ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses (12 credit hours per semester) including differential equations, numerical methods, and statistics.
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in applied mathematics or statistics.
  • Ability to incorporate R, Maple, Mathematica, Matlab, SageMath, and/or Python into mathematics and statistics courses.
  • Expertise and/or professional experience in the field of data science.

Position Overview:

This is a one-year position, and its main responsibility consists of teaching a mixture of upper and lower-level mathematics and statistics courses: four in the fall and four in the spring. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
